Split Pea Soup

Split Pea Soup

1 lb bag split peas,sorted and rinsed
3 carrots,chopped
4 medium potatoes (2 sweet,2 russet)
1 small onion,diced
1-2 cups chopped ham (optional)
4-6 cups chicken stock
salt and pepper to taste.

Combine all in stock pot. Boil till very tender. If desired,transfer to blender and puree until smooth.
